Trip Report: Colorado Sisters Trip-August 2022

A pause from the Brandon and Hannah show to bring you a Trip Report from my Sisters Trip last August.

Each year I am fortunate enough to take a trip with my two sisters and one of my sister in laws (I have three). This past August we all met in Colorado for a quick 4 day getaway.

We started, as all CO trips now must, at Snooze. A breakfast place at the airport and a few other locations in Colorado and scattered around the US. *pauses for a moment to salivate*. We also got smart (or obnoxious) this year and got matching shirts. Pro tip: Do this. Matching trip shirts are the best. The conversations they started were heartwarming, and our server at Peaks Lounge even covered our tab telling us how much she missed her sisters.

Our first stop was a little jaunt around Red Rocks Amphitheater. Megan (teal shirt above) and I had actually been there three weeks prior to see a concert!

From there we walked, scooted and laughed until we cried around Denver. Complete with dinner in Larimer Square-we tried bison burgers-and dessert at Peaks Lounge.

Jessica conquered an old fear of scooters-and doesn’t she look fabulous?

Our first full day took us to Rocky Mountain National Park. The timed entry put us arriving to the park a little later than we would like for hiking, given the afternoon storms that plague the mountains in the summer months. As forecasted, they arrived. We waited, in our rain gear and extra layers, and were rewarded with a beautiful view and worked up the appetite for killer BBQ in Estes Park.

We didn’t have any fun. None. At all. We hiked to Emerald Lake and Lake Haiyaha in Rocky Mountain. We topped out (according to my Garmin) at 10,270 ft with a total ascent of over 1,000 ft over 5.6 miles

Our second full day brought us to Boulder and hiking around the Flatirons. I won’t go into details but that’s F-L-A-T….lets just say you had to be there. We hiked to the Third Flatiron-toping out at 6,941 ft, but ascending 1,628 ft in just 4 miles.

We had two great days of hiking, and spent our last evening walking around Boulder, enjoying new foods, chatting and giggling into incoherent, all out fits of laugher. Our legs were sore but our abs….nice.

It was a wonderful trip-can’t wait for the next one. Thanks ladies!

Thanks for reading, hope you enjoy the video. Stay tuned for the next chapter of what’s happening on our Days Off!
